Having inherited the collections of the musée du Luxembourg, created in 1818 to house state purchases from living French artists, the musée national d'art moderne-centre de création industrielle now contains Europe's leading collection of modern and contemporary art. It is also one of the largest in the world, with over 100 000 works dating from 1905 to the present day.

Just 10 minutes walk from Hotel Duo stands one of France’s most prestigious Gothic cathedrals, Notre-Dame. Located on the Ile de la Cité, the ancient heart of the Paris, this magnificent cathedral is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. The bravest can climb up one of its 69-meter high towers to admire the breathtaking panoramic views.

A 20 minutes walk along the Rue de Rivoli will take you to the prestigious Louvre museum, one of the largest art museums worldwide. Home to Leonardo’s Mona Lisa, ancient Egypt artefacts, sculptures and paintings from around the world, the Louvre museum attracts millions of visitors each year.

The Museum of Arts and Crafts can be considered one of the oldest technical and industrial museums in the world. Its history is closely linked to that of the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts. Reopened in 2000 after a major renovation project, the Museum of Arts and Crafts retains today a reference collection. It offers an important cultural program for a wide audience, particularly through its educational activities, conferences and temporary exhibitions, and has important documentary resources in the fields of technical history and industrial heritage. .

The collection is presented through a dynamic programme of temporary and regularly changing exhibitions : thematic displays based on works in the collection, exhibitions dedicated to artists whose works are included in the collection, as well as carte blanches, specific projects and commissions.

The Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection has ten exhibition galleries, including a Studio dedicated to video and audio works, as well as freer forms, outreach spaces and an Auditorium for conferences, meetings, screenings, concerts, and events.

The Théâtre du Châtelet is a theater located Place du Châtelet in the 1st arrondissement of Paris and inaugurated in 1862; under Jean-Luc Choplin's direction since 2006, it currently mainly plays musicals, operas, classical concerts, jazz, recitals and dance. It has also been hosting the César Film Awards since 2002. The Théâtre du Châtelet is a member of RESEO (European Network for Opera and Dance Awareness).

La Gaîté-Lyrique, formerly known as Théâtre de la Gaîté, is a Parisian theater located on rue Papin (3rd) and converted into a cultural center dedicated to digital arts and contemporary music.

It presents itself as a place to understand the relationship between technical progress and the evolution of artistic forms by allowing the meeting of culture, history and modernity. It thus testifies to the hybridization of the media proper to the artistic expression of the twentieth century.

Situated less than 20 minutes walk from the Hotel Duo are the Place de la Bastille and the recent Bastille Opera House. This bustling district is known for its trendy restaurants, wine bars and cafés attracting numerous tourists and young Parisians.

The Place de la Bastille marks the beginning of the Coulée Verte, an elevated tree-lined walkway similar to the High Line in New York, and which was created on disused railway tracks. Under the arches that support the former railway structure are numerous art galleries and high-end fashion and crafts shops.

Paris’s Picasso Museum is located in the heart of the Marais district, in a grand townhouse dating back to the 17th century. Situated just 12 minutes walk from the Hotel Duo, the Picasso Museum showcases over 5,000 masterpieces by the artist and organises regular temporary exhibitions.

A library and archive centre offering a rich collection of books and audiovisual material is consultable on site.

In the heart of the historic Marais district, just 15 minutes walk away from the Hotel Duo, is the magnificent Place des Vosges. Offering a haven of peace in the heart of the French capital, this landscaped square is lined with elegant buildings, arcades, shops and restaurants.

Paris’s city hall is located in a grand Renaissance style building dating back to the 19th century. It is situated just a 2-minute walk away from our hotel along the banks of the river Seine. Right across the street from the Hotel de Ville, on Rue de Rivoli, you will find one of Paris’s oldest department stores: the BHV.
